Who We Are

The Mohawk Foundation was founded in 2015 by Ryne Hoover on the suggestion of his friend, and EarthPaint.org founder, Christopher McCarthy.

Ryne had just gotten started in triathlon after his divorce in 2014 and was looking for a way to give back through the new sports he was competing in. The choice to race for breast cancer was an easy one for Ryne because of his direct connection to multiple people affected by the disease, including 4 family members.

Shortly after starting in triathlon, Ryne was introduced to the story of Jon Blais and was amazed by it. When he found out about The Blazeman Foundation, which had been started by Jon's parents to combat ALS, he decided to help raise awareness for them as well which is why you see the 'Blazeman' and '179' on all of the team's gear.
